im in the wiring stage of my pile of parts, i have a wiring diagram for chevy using distributer. this has HEI does anybody know how it would differ ? the diagram i have shows dist to coil to balast .( the chassis is chevy with 454 mid 70s and i have mounted a 47 dodge wdx body ) any help would be greatly appreciated . thanks

all u need...

To add HEI to a vehicle that used points is simple...just run a new 10 or 12 gauge wire to the HEI battery + terminal on the cap,and hook it to a spot in the fuse box that only gets 12V power when the key is in the "ON" and "START"position ONLY..(use a test light to see when it gets juice)..you dont want power going to it when the key is on "ACC"..you DONT need a ballast resistor or resistance wire,so dont use the original hot wire from the points style ignition coil--it is a resistance wire, and will only let limited voltage and amperage flow..HEI needs a full 12 volts to work properly..
