I am relocating my battery to behind the drivers seat and want to know if it would be ok to wire my winch to the starter instead of all the way back to the battery.

In theory since the batt will be hooked up to the starter the voltage should just continue on right?

Will this work? I don't want to run two hot leads all the way to the battery....

A couple of things to consider

Run length and voltage drop.

The longer the run, the bigger the cable needs to be for the winch.

I personally would not. I would run a very large gauge wire to a positve wire block and take the winch off from that and run the wire to the starter from there. I get nervous with two large wires running down by the exhaust.

Or here is a link to a safe two positve wire alternative:

Wouldn't reccommend it either. Esp if you are using a regular battery. What are your reasons behind relocating it?

No way to mount it near the firewall? That would make your run a little shorter to the winch than behind the rear seat.
