I have a 1984 K5 w/ 350 / 700r4. The motor runs good but every now and then it dies driving down the interstate even. It usually starts back up, sometimes not very quickly. Would anyone out there happen to know what the problem is? This is driving me crazy.
Thanks,

Check the control module in the distributor. I had the same thing happen to me. When you do change it out, put some dialectic grease on the underside.

If you are going to mess with the distributor, just replace it. If it's the pickup coil, it has to come out anyway. You can't buy the components for less than you can buy a complete distributor.

Thanks for the advise.
Never thought about the distributor, I replaced all the parts inside of it, coil twice, kept failing.
Thanks again

Try to find an OEM coil - aftermarket ones fail way more. Also, an AC Delco module is better than a parts store brand. Avoid ignition parts in the yellow boxes.

Thanks everyone. I'll try your suggestions. I appreciate it.
Or it could be as simple as the power wire going to the distributor is partially broken/bad connectuon. Bad ignition swithes can do that too.
