I have a 1979 K5. Im having a volt problem. My volt meter reads almost nothing when im driving. Gauges are incorrect and stereo cuts out. Also the lights are dim. Battery, alternator, and starter solonoid check out good. When i park and turn off everything except the engine, the volt meter reads between 10 and 12 v. The faster i go, the worse it gets. Could this be a ground issue? If so, where?

By "check out good" did you take the alternator and battery off and get them tested at the auto parts store?
Another thing. What sort of voltage do you have on your battery (check with a multimeter) with the truck running with the engine sped up a few hundred RPM over idle?

Ok. After an exhaustive search. I discovered it was a loose ground on the harness that crosses the engine bay on the radiator support. Works like a champ now.
