Electrical issue

I would suggest not hooking the ground cable to the A/C bracket. There is a chance that the bracket isn't making good electrical connection to the engine block. Whoever swapped the engine probably didn't clean the block and head where the bracket mounts. Then it can also get electrolysis due to the aluminum bracket on the cast iron. This will cause poor electrical connection.
You may want to check for a good ground on the alternator as well, it may need a ground wire too.
Like others have said, get good, clean ground connections to make things work better.

Ok...after my part store run...
Being an older block, going to mount to unused front engine block mounting bolt. Picked up a 4ga terminal to switch cable with the 10ga pup and a 4ga switch to starter cable to jump from same bolt back to frame. Going to relocate the 10ga to radiator bracket instead of firewall.
Will post pics after complete in case it helps anyone else.
Thanks all!

Was posting as I saw your alert come through. Not going to ac bracket anymore.
Will check the alternator ground. Thanks for the heads up!
