So i've got a 90 K5 and this morning on my way to school everything was working fine with the sterio until i plugged a car charger into the ciggerett lighter. Then i popped the fuse powering my sub and rear speakers. So being the curios fella i am i tried is again, same results. All allong my way to school i kept trying diffrent things to see if it would effect it. So here's a list: if i Turn on the head lights, turn on the KC lights, turn on the cab lights, turn on the heater, open the door....if i do any of these things my sterio turns off and comes back on in a few seconds......I have no idea as to what could be casuin this. HELP!!!

P.S. for the past little while before this happened i notices the cab litghts would ether come on under the dash or on the celing, but never both at the same time.

My best guess is that when you turn any of those items on it takes away some power from your stereo temperarely shutting it off then it turns back on once it gets 12 volts again. I'd check your battery or alternator. and for the fuse it sounds like you've got a short in your cigarette lighter, i have a 91 K5 and my cigarette lighter is shorting out on something also

I have an '89 Blazer and I had similar issues. I had very similar symptoms (problems began one night when a friend tried to light a cigar). In my case it was a combination of two things, the head unit was wired incorrectly (the constant hot wire was wired into the same circuit as the cigarette lighter) and there was a short in that circuit. Running a new hot wire to an empty fused spot on the fusebox solved the radio problem, and removing the cigarette lighter was my solution to the other part.

In short, you probably have a short.

Okay i got it. twas simply a fuse and yea probably a bad lighter receptacle too. I'll get that replaced. But the issue with my cab lights still is goin weird on me. When ever i turn the head light switch to turn on the cab lights it only turns the ones under the dash on. Could this be a bad switch too?

Yeah the bulbs are all good, no rust. and they all turn on when i open the door.
