I have an '85 k5 w/federal emissions(california)-(computer carb and distributor).Question is can I use the distributor w/a fuel injection conversion I plan on purchasing. If I can it would save me $250 or so,any info would be very appreciated.Thanks!:k5:

I recall some of the car guys saying it is possible. I *believe* you have to change the module at the very least though. Try google, include monte carlo...I think some of the monte-list.nu guys had done it.

Yeah I rember reading somewhere about converting an older dist to run with TBI. I thought whatt a PIA. Somebody has way too much time on their hands. I guess if you had a buick or Olds and wanted to convert to FI that may be be your option. But for a Chevy its Far easier and cheaper to get a TBI dist from a junk yard.

I'm sure it could be done, but if you're using a factory F.I. system, I would just use the dist that matches it ($130 @ Autozone + core if it's TBI). Aftermarket F.I. is a whole different question.:D

I'm guessing there is no vacuum advance on the distributor since it is an electronic controlled dizzy? Also when you decide to go FI are you going to do TBI, TPI or something other? You can use your distributor if there is no vacuum advance and if going with TPI it is easy.
