i have a 88 k5 and when its running, the battery guage is just a little past the red zone on the negative. sometimes after a while it will go to the normal spot in the center, but after a couple minutes it goes back barely reading anything. i have replaced the battery and alternator. i was thinking maybe its short circuiting? i really dont know . what should i check? any help is much appreciated. thanks

Get a voltmeter and see what your alternator is putting out with your engine running. If it reads above 13.5 or so you're good to go. Could be a bad guage...

i think its the wiring going to the guage or the guage itself because i had that problem. or its the IVR thats messing with it just get a voltage reading on the battery with it running!
