Elk hunt

Well the time has come for my Arizona Elk hunt, been waiting for this day for months. It ought to be fun and challenging since all of my hunting buds have backed out and I am going at it alone. I'll post my findings when I get back in two weeks.

One of my buddies just pulled a 284 lb cow from Williams and the other pulled a 260 lb from North Kibab.

Good luck on the hunt. Where is your area?

Shane, are those weights after dressing out or live weight? If that was live weight they are kinda small for that area. Me & my dad got about a 500lb cow out of Williams about 8 years ago.

If he says they're pullin, I would imagine dressed, cause why in the heck would you pull a belly full anywhere???

Well, I struck out this year. My area was 6b just south west of Flagstaff directly below Camp Navajo. Man it dumped some serious rain friday which made the back roads just miserable, I think i spent more time winching instead of driving and sturday was followed by the fluffy white stuff. I'll take snow over mud any day. So after the mud fest I decided to just hike the areas. Ran across a large (40 or so) flock of turkey with a nice 20+ lb tom with a nice 8+" beard (no tag ) Sunday morn. Then around 10 am on my nature walk came across a nice 5X bull of course I have a cow tag. Monday I got a call from my wife and her father had passed, so off to home I went. Draw deadline is Feb 12th so I try for it again next year.
