Hi All,

I bought a 75 K5 that has been pretty poorly taken care of and am trying to bring it back to it's original glory...

Anyway, the truck has a 4" lift and I have noticed that there are a few things that seem to be affected by this.

1. The emergency brake cables, they are tied to the rear pumpkin with string... I tried to put them in their place but the are to short, I am assuming due to the lift? My Brother in law suggests we cut off the mount and re-weld it further back, will this work or should I be looking for an extension kit? How do you guys do it?
2. Brake lines, same story but I assume here you just buy extended brake lines?

Any help would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Lift kits (when buying a "kit") used to come with drop brackets for the e-brake cables. I don't think any "kits" come with such a bracket anymore though. Yes you can probably remove and relocate the stock bracket to make the cables work properly OR you can buy new cables in any length you want. Your local auto parts store will have a catalog with info on how to go about ordering the cable you need.

The flex brake line you just need to buy some stainless braided extended hoses for those (front and rear).

A couple places sell extended brake lines, ORD is where I bought mine. Also, inline tube can build custom e-brake cables so you don't have to move/drop your mounting brackets.
