i need to know whats up with my gf's car. her light is on and i went and got it scanned at autozone but they didnt know what it meant. so he printed out the paper for me and i dunno where to check the code.

i saw evap system so i know it has something todo with the gas tank or something.. i got a new gas cap hoping it would solve the problem cause i saw a similar code with my brothers truck and it was the cap, but it didnt solve hers.

the code is p0446
EVAP purge/vent solenoid circuit condition.

if anyone knows a site i can lookup codes or can tell me what this means it would be greatly appreciated.

The error code P0446 means "EVAP System - vent control malfunction". This error code can be caused by any of the following :

Open or short in VSV circuit for EVAP
VSV for EVAP
Open or short in vapor pressure sensor circuit
Vapor pressure sensor malfunction
Open or short in VSV circuit for vapor pressure sensor
Malfunction in VSV for vapor pressure circuit
Vacuum hose blocked, damaged or disconnected
Charcoal canister malfunction



Also, check your gas cap

That can also happen if the gas cap wasn't put on tightly. Clear the code and see if it returns. Also ask her if she had recentlt put gas in the vehicle.
