What yr did GM change the small block 350s to where the a/c compressor and alt switched sides? I'm thinking it was 1989 as my 88 still has the alt on pass side and factory a/c on driver side.
This may not mean much as the motor isn't stock, but on my 71 the AC is on the passenger side and the alternator is on the drivers side. Did GM swith sides more than once?
The switch in the 80's was when GM went to full serpentine setup from what I have seen. My '87 is part V groove pulley and part serp. My a/c is on the driver's side. I know 89 K5s have full serp setup and and they switched sides like 4x4High said. Your 88 might be like my 87.
Just to add more data for you, our '91 and '94 Suburban's have the a/c on the passenger side, as does our '91 S-Jimmy. Even the '87 'vette engine in our '75 K5 has the a/c on the passenger side.
