Ok well I have a guy at work that I've been trying to help out with his truck, its a toyota:dunno: truck but its got a Chevy 350 in it and a 700R4.

The problem he says is that when he goes into a turn the truck will shut off, but he says if he puts it in neutral it will stay on, I'm stumped and can't figure this one out.

I've helped w/ a few other probs but can't seem to figure this on out

Possibly, he says he's been hearing a chain clanging sound so I told him to check his T-case fluid, could be low

Could that shut the truck off though

You mean something maybe hitting inside the column and shorting out a wire or something?

Maybe. The problem sounds electrical, I don't think a binding drivetrain will kill an auto.

You think maybe, (just a thought), the control module in the dizzy, maybe it doesn't have that die electric grease underneath it and when turning its shorting out, I don't know maybe not

I don't see what the distributor has to do with the steering :dunno:

Make sure that there are no wires near the steering or anything that moves up there.

Its the flux capacitor

that's usually holds true, but mine is a perfect example. i broke the collar on my torque converter and sometimes in hard turn, it would bind make the engine stumble pretty bad for a split second. even though an auto doesn't have the same physical connection as a manual, but the fluid pressure can act in a similar fashion.

but he says if he puts it in neutral it will stay on,

so, he enters the turn, plops it into neutral and coasts around the corner just fine? doesn't sound like an electrical problem to me, then.

What's that and what does it do???

the flux capacitor is what makes time travel possible. but you have to hit 88mph and produce 1.28 gigawatts of electricity to make it work. of course, those are the specs for a delorean. a k5 might require more like 1.73 gigawatts. great scott!

is it possible that a fuel line is getting pinched by moving parts during turns? i don't know how he has them routed, of course.

Maybe his oil's low, and the oil sender is killing the spark/EFI when the pump runs dry in turns? Then in nuetral with no load on the crank, the oil PSI has a little more leeway...

Just an arbitrary suggestion...

Thanks for all the suggestions so far.

I just got off work and he tells me now that when he goes around turns it doesn't completely die but bogs down to about 200 RPM's. He says it feels like if you are driving a manual and its in fifth when trying to accelerate again and he says he hears a loud kind of like teeth grinding noise and when he straightens up it feels like it catches or engages.

But it still won't do it in neutral, only when in gear

if its a carb, then the floats could be set too high and the fuel spills over in a turn making the engine bog and sputter if not maybe even stall.

my 87 tbi is doing the exact same thing... sucks. i cant figure it out at all!

Is yours an auto, it actually ended up being the torque converter, it was broke to pieces on the inside and there was metal shavings all through the transmission. Good thing is though the shop just rebuilt that trans and put that converter on so now he gets another rebuild for free

Thanks for all the help
