I saw them on one of those cable truck shows... maybe "Powerblock!". ANyone know anything about them? Are they too expensive for what they are? Im not capable of rebuilding my own engine ( and no desire to learn, to many other hobbies) but I might be able to drop one in that runs and bolt her up.

Any info or suggestions would be great!

its going to be put on a daily driver that mainly puts around town, long drives to hunt, and occaisonly chasing cattle around the ranch.

What engine would give me the best milage?

if you want good mileage, go find a 6.2L diesel. its almost a direct bolt in, you can use the same harness and what not. alot of guys can tell you exactly, i have not done it but i am planning on it.
you could find someone local to rebuild your engine for you, unless your wanting a crate engine. or you could fine a 5.3 vortec. it depends on how much work your willing to put into swapping engines

IMO those are WAY overpriced.

Those are turnkey, meaning they come with alot of stuff you don't need if your looking for a repower. If your under 300 hp you can reuse your stock injection stuff.

If you want some serious power out of a fuel injected motor and don't want to spend the time or money to tune it, hunt down parts, diagnose, etc then they are a good option but you can save 5 grand (9k for 430hp fueli) If you do it yourself. How much power are you looking for? 330hp longblocks can be had for around 2k.

I know people swap their own diesel into a k5 but will shops do that? What would be a price for something like that?

.......more than the truck is worth. Its not a matter of just shoving a diesel in there, you have to modify the gas tank and fuel system.

i agree with badmix. its a fairly simple swap for you to do yourself but taking it somewhere they will charge you for sure. Go look in the Diesel section and maybe PM some of the guys that have done it. they will help you out

nevermind... more work than I'm looking for!
thanks for the help guys
