engine help

my buddy had a 70 blazer in super nice condition (brand new everything it was all for show, never wheeled)...well his little bro crashed it. he gave me the engine and sold the rest of the truck. now my question is...what should i get before i stick it in my truck? new torque converter, new seals, few quarts of oil and gaskets, filter...? what else.
my old engine still works but its a piece of junk squeekling smoking crap beast.

new motor: just a gm goodwrench 350 with 6000 miles on it, an edelbrock intake and holly 650(wish an edelbrock) with msd ignition and distrb... any input would help.

If the motor is good...don't fix it! Just give it oil/filter/plugs and a check over. I would change the torque converter and seal while the moter is out as it could save a lot of work in months/years to come. Get new motor/trans mounts while you're at it too. If you change the t/q, drop the trans pan and do the filter and oil so you get all fresh trans fluid.

any suggestions on which torque converter? or even which company? rubber or the polys mounts?

I used poly mounts. I had a TCI Truck Saturday night special converter which I used for about 500 miles! hated it. Stall speed way too high. Now I have one of their tow/rv ones (TCI) and love it!

RV stall converters are nice, actually increase your mpg a little, theyre a bit pricey for my 700r4 with lockup, but prob. $150 for non-lockup.
