I am in the process of swapping a vortec 350 crate gm goodwrench motor into my 1989 blazer. I'm in need of some answers and hope that you may be able to help me out. These brackets mount behind the engine mounts on the block and attach strut/support bars to the lower bell housing cover on my transmission. My son scrapped the old block with parts still attached so I'm having to pick up new hardware and fit it appropriately to the correct location. I have gotten the brackets but the question at hand is which one goes on which side. The mounts themselves are identical but the brackets that mount behind them against the block are different. i don't want to get the engine bolted in and realize that they are in the wrong location and have to switch them. One of the brackets is more flat with the engine block mounting holes at one end and at the other, the end seems to be bent at an angle with the strut bar mounting hole centered. The other bracket has a a rolled bend on one side and a flat angle on the other with the bolt hole on the side with the flat angle to mount the strut bar to. I hope you can understand what I'm trying to describe ...I would post pics but it wont let me until i post atleast five times...sorry

welcome to the site :sign24:

clean up the rods good there should be a L or R stamped in them .

i just cleaned up a set and found a factory stamped L and R on mine up near 1 of the ends.

and the tabs were the bars bolt face slightly out away from block face and point down .

re...

ok thanks for the left and right info.... is that from sitting in the vehicle?

also ...The bars weren't the real issue... its the plates that the bars mount to at the engine block behind the engine mounts

left is vehicle left

and if bars still on plates that was a helping point .

i never take off the bars from the plates .

unfortunately the bars were removed from the mounting plates... but had i been able to remove the plates from the old block before my impatient son decided to haul it to the scrap yard i would have marked them as i do everything that i Disassemble . I will head over to the gm dealer in the am and see if they can help..... thanks for trying to help me out....
