good day guys..

i live in a really hot country (not the sexy hot), what kind of oil should i be using if i have a 454 engine and i use the car offroad a lot...

oil shop suggested 20w50 oil as its thicker than others.. what do you think?

thanks

Is your engine high mileage?

What sort of oil pressure do you get with 10w30 now?

Full synthetic (I suggest Mobil 1) is more tolerant to heat than dinosaur oil. I lived in the desert (summer highs 115-120 F) before moving here - I ran Mobil 1 10w30 in the winter and Mobil 1 10w40 in the summer. Doing that, I saw pretty good and consistent oil pressures year round. This was on a good healthy 454 with an oil cooler setup.

I run 20w50 in Phoenix year round , we can go as high as 122 degrees ( farenheit ) in summer , and as low mid 20's in a good winter .
