Trying to. Still waiting on the damn machine shop. Im probably going to have the timing chain cover and the oil pan ready to paint tonight.
The block is gonna be orange (of coarse) and the pan and over will be black. I may splerge on the valve covers but I highly doubt it. I'll probably still with the stock ones and repaint them poor mans chrome.

If you're talking about painting the engine block, I've always used VHT Engine Paint. Comes in all the factory colors, plus other choices. If you want to have some fun with it, they sell a color that looks just like aluminum. It will make people look twice, wondering if you have an aluminum block.

On the other hand, it shows dirt and leaks a little too well.

you know it would run cooler and looker cooler too if you painted it black. And dont forget that with the black engine you can afford to have chrome timing cover oilpan and just about everting else. Think about it!

black is too hard to see fresh leaks if they develope. IMO
<font color=orange>ORANGE</font color=orange> is cool.. IMO

black or orange... I did JMT orange, and I'll probably do IE black... I hear black cools better, but I also like the idea of going with the tradition orange.

I know a guy that painted his heads silver. Even tho I knew they were not alum. It still caught my eye and made me look twice.

I went w/ basic black on mine. If you get under the truck you can see yourself on the oilpan.

It laid down super slick. Just put on several lite coats and it will look better than just dumping it on.

If ya can't stop.......Smile as you go under!

Yeah, Im painting the block Chevy orange for looks and to aid in finding fresh leaks. And I thought about the heads silver, or poor mans chrome, with black valve covers.
Right now, Im treating the pan and the timing cover with rust convertor, then scuff and prime. Then we'll be ready fo da paint.
Maybe, I'll get entire motor assembled then take it and have the whole damn thing dipped in chrome!!!

Im sorta going that route Lara. But only the block will be orange on mine. All the attachments will be either silver or black. No Chrome for me.
Chrome does not get you home, so there is no need in me spending any extra money for it. Specially sicne chrome retains a little more heat.
