Engine Prob w/ Video

the reason i was thinking it was a vacuum leak was beacuse of the shifting probs. hey where in cali do you live?

Redding... bout 4 hours from s.j.

so i got tunepro(just the free version) and made my aldl cable. it took me all day...but not because of the cable. the cable was fun to make(just hope it works) but my laptop crashed and i had to reinstall everything. now tunepro is pretty much the only thing on my computer besides nifty noodie backgrounds.

Hopefully you built the 8192 baud cable, since the '730, as mentioned, doesn't need what the '165 does (at least the first versions of the '165) as far as resistance.

so i guess i'm gonna try this ...but do i get rid of R3 and E (r2 + wire for 160 baud)? my actual computer is a 16198262 the equivalent to 730.

When you set your timing did you disconnect the timing wire like you are supposed to?

well i made the 8192 baud cable and what do you know..it works!
i built the cable...
blew the dust off my laptop.
and the battery was completly dead the computer crashed.
had to reboot this and that defrag and blah blah..
computer works now and aldl shows up(but only with the lap top plugged in power supply)
so i had to plug into the cig lighter(and now my cig lighter doesnt work)
now i fixed the cig lighter

...but now its on only in the on position and not all the time(turn off the truck and the lap top turns offf..booo)

now i have to start data logging.

data logging yes...computer crashed again.
now loading software on another laptop.

got logging done and everything. then found some coolant in the oil...not cool. but i took everything off..put everything back on it it runs so well.there is still a vac leak but my truck picks up a lot quicker then the holly carb and edl intake man. weeeeeeee:)

my intake manifold is pretty corroded though thats why it was leaking. some time in the not so future i should probably get another one.

Yo!

So it was leaking eh? glad to hear you got it mostly figured out..
Wheres the vaccum leak coming from now?

I have a TPI manifold, for early stlye pre 87 heads. You have early style heads right? I'll even pressure wash & beadblast it for ya.. Make an offer.

You better get it all fixed pretty quick because blazerfest at hollister is the weekend after this one... (july 21,22,23) check out the blazerfest forum on ck5 or on norcaloffroad. or you can pm me if you have any questions about going.
