So I recently moved from Nazi smog law California. To run whatever you want Washington. What can I remove from the rat's nested smogged 350 to get some more power, and clean up the engine bay? Pics would be great maybe before and after's? :wink1:

BTW it's an 84k5 with a 97 crate 350..

Just yank every piece of smog crap off of it and install a normal HEI distributor and also a normal carb without the feed back crap and be done.

Sweet..should be fun. I'll take pics. You might expect a call or two from me Scott. :wink1:

Don't forget removing the cats. They are prob the biggest power robbers. The air pump won't gain you much, but will be a bunch neater under the hood w/o it and all the crap that goes with.

get a better intake and carb. headers and exhaust without cats. when you are done you should have 2 vacumn lines. one for the brakes and one for the distributor.

fixed it for ya.

We just had a discussion last week about this. You need a PCV system that is hooked up properly if you don't want to keep replacing leaking gaskets and want the engine to live for a long time. Do a search and you should come up with the recent post about this.

Not sure if these pics will work, but here's what I started with.

Still going to move that reley mess..

Keep the idea's coming people. What about an air cleaner?

Find, or fab, an air cleaner with 2 snorkles. There is a second cool air hole on the opposite side of the radiator. Pull all that warm air baffle stuff out of the snorkle as well for better air flow.

Yo... What are you going to do with the A/C stuff ? Is your condenser still there ? I need one. If you dont want that air cleaner I'll have it...

Are you converting to pane? Why not just do it now? Id also get some shorty headers and do a true dually exhaust.

Yeah I want too..but right now just want to get things cleaned up. I guess I should just pull the whole thing out, clean it up,and paint it.

Exhaust will be done later down the road.

I got alot more done today. I'm going for the long haul...everything is coming out. :haha:

Hey Jim I got the condenser pulled do you still want it?

i want to do all this to mine too so keep posting pics i want to see how hard it is and what itll look like later. thanks man

This all brings back Memories. But I yanked all this crap out with the old engine. :).
