ok i have a 454 bolt main block and a 366 big block i bought for the heads....so the question.....im put a 454 in my 1990 k5i was going to put the 366 heads on the 454....the heads also said there are for 427 per numbers. can i use the 366 rods as well???? if so what do i have to do to get this thing running and in the truck?
 
If you get the correct pistons, you can use the crank and rods from that 366, and make a 427.

The rods are the same as the 454.

Power wise won't be much, those engines weren't designed for horsepower, but torque. Just a guess but probly 400 or so ft/lb of torque.
 
I would run the biggest cube possible out of the parts you have.
You only have the block from a 454, not crank, rods, or pistons?

If you have the rotating assy from the 366, are they dimple rods (show a small dimple up toward the wrist pin end)?

You could go std bore to achieve 427 ci in the 454 block, but really watch your piston to wall clearance, and taper on the bores.

You could go .030 overbore on the 454 block to get 433 ci.

What are the casting #'s on the heads?
 
Ok I have a crank from 454 not sure if good. Only 7 454 rods but all 366 rods. All so have complete 366 crank and rods. I don't need the block if any one needs it. Was good running when pulled from dump truck. Make offer. Umm 366 -427 heads got to get back to u on cast numbers. What do I need and need to do??? Thanks matt
 
have any pics?

what do you have for pistons?
pistons will make a big difference in the final c.i. displacement.
rods are the same basic size, but may differ in strength and weight.
use the 454 crank if its good.
ditch the 366 block, its a small bore, and not worth putting extra money into boring and the like.

Pics and casting #'s would really help us here.
