Hello,

Just joined after a sort of rude e-mail on the Third Gen site (f-body Camaros etc.) but I understand their reasons. Anyway, has anyone here installed a Tuned Port Injected Motor in their mid 80s (1985) pick up? This is exactly what I'm doing and I'd like to discuss it here if appropriate. The motor is out of a 1990 Corvette, if that makes a difference and I also have many questions regarding the truck itself.

Thank you...look forward to the forum.

welcome aboard. Their has been many engine swaps going on here including the LS engines, maybe someone can help you out here. There is a bunch of Chevy knowledge floating around here.

Hey, thanks for the response. My first potential problem is wether the original 1/4" fuel return line will handle the amount of fuel coming from the fuel injection. My truck has dual tanks so the 1/4" line is my only option since the 5/16" line comes from the tank(s) to the charcaol canister and that line by-passes the tank valve. I should add that the supply line is 3/8". Did trucks that originally came with fuel injection (TBI) have a larger than 1/4" fuel return line?

I had a tpi motor in my old camaro. I loved it, they make a lot of low end torque and get pretty good fuel economy. Do you have the ECM and wiring harness from the donor car? Don't get too upset with the thirdgen guys, they get baraged with tons of new guys who ask the same questions over and over without doing any research, so they can get a little touchy sometimes. Usually if you follow the rules of their site they are pretty understanding and helpful, they know these motors and they know how to fix them, so I wouldn't be too quick to write them off.

More than good advise, I can`t help:dunno: but your build sounds cool, welcome and good luck.

Maybe you need a build thread on here.

Look up CK5er "odin" , he is (or was) running a TPI 355 in his truck. I can't remember for sure, but I think his is a mid 80's rig.

No hard feelings for Third Gen. I'm using the Painless "stand alone" wire harness for the TPI MAP (not MAF) engine. Should be fun...haha
