Engine stalls at angle

89 Blazer stock 350 with TBI. I had it out this weekend and everytime I tried climbing something, the engine would die. I tried giving it more skinny pedal, but it still would cut out and die. This is a new thing, never had the problem before this weekend. Could my fuel pump be going out? I had a little over a 1/4 tank of fuel at the time.

Any suggestions?

The TBI gas tanks have a "tray" in the bottom to help keep fuel at the pick-up screen when the fuel level is low or when the vehicle is at an angle and that "tray" is made of plastic and commonly starts to break and either fall apart or it breaks in such a way that it moves off the bottom of the tank and the fuel escapes. If you have at least 1/2 tank of fuel this won't happen. So in that long winded explanation you need to keep more fuel in the tank to prevent that from happening when in off camber situations.

Thanks, I was hoping it was that easy. I'll throw more fuel in and try the angled stuff again. By the way, does putting an aftermarket electric pump in alleviate this low fuel issue? Or do you need to put in an aftermarket tank without the tray as well?

The tray keeps the pickup covered in fuel. An afermarket pump won't do jack if the pickup is uncovered.

Pump shouldn't matter. If it's getting no fuel, then it's getting no fuel.

That may not be true. With my stock pump when i was down to a 1/4 tank of fuel and made a quick u turn the truck would start to stall out as the gas sloshed to one side of the tank and since i've replaced the stock pump with a 255 L/hr pump i can be on empty and make the same quick u turn with no stalling issue. I think the higher pressure more volume has something to do with it.

As mentioned it's not picking up fuel. A half tank will go to about here.
