I have a 87 K5 that is stumbleing while accelerateing down the road and when I pull a hill. It idles fine and if I change the throttle possition at all it will run fine then I give it more gas it hesitates and stumbles again. Acts like you turn the key off and back on real quick. Is this the typicle distributor or something else? My experience with a bad distibutor is stalling at idle. Oh one other thing it doesnt do it until it warms up. Let me have some feedback on this.

You go through a couple tanks of gas yet?

Checked all the vacuum lines on the engine? Good visual inspection of the engine bay?

Yes sir I have done the above. I had exhaust leaks at the manifolds and had it repaired today. I drove it home ,probably 5 miles, with no stumbleing. We will see if it acts up again. Maybe it was messing with the 02 sensors

sounds like a possibly clogged fuel filter. How long has it been since it has been changed?
If not fuel filter..

Are you getting any trouble codes? Have you checked for trouble codes? Does the CEL light come on and go off?
If so and you are getting a code 42 you most likely have a bad magnetic pick up coil
or bad dist module.

I would definatly change the distributor module before you do anything else.
Running good when cold and acting up when warm + no codes is a classic sign of the module going bad.

Well I drove it around today and it ran fine. I'm guessing the 02 sensors were getting messed with by the leaking exhaust manifold donuts. I will drive it a few more days and give an update on how it is running.

How long ago......

Whats the condition of your carb ?

The first thing that came to mind (from what you described) was the carb float being lame and not storing enough excess fuel in the bowl.

It would allow a stumble, and during the stumble, build enough fuel feed again to recover the stumble.

Its just a thought.

Good luck !

Fuel injected its an 87. Thanks though.

Well it has been 6 days since the exhaust work and no stumbleing. I'm guessing that was the issue.

had the same problems and finally led to a no start, ended up being the dsit. module and i had a bad exh. maifold gasket on one side. just my $.02
