I've posted before, and was thinking maybe it was vacuum related, but doesnt seem to be.

Im getting a weird condition, the engine starts up fine, stays warm fine, but when it gets hot, sometimes (not always), the engine starts slowing down (at idle). Like we're talking the engine is slowing down,, until it almost just stalls out, but then surges back up to regular rpm, then starts slowing down again, and again... repeats.

This has gotten progressively worse. THe other day I was coasting, getting ready for a turn, and no power steering! THe engine had stopped, but it stops so gently, I didnt know.... Any idea?

EGR? TPS????

I am having exactly the same problem with my recent tbi addition. Please someone help us! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'll try that, I always forget to look at those. one of these days I'll build that little thing to read codes onto my PC.

I got bored one day and went to radio shack to pick up the pieces for one. Since I already had a spare cable, it cost about $3. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Not sure if it works yet, but at least I have it! Eventually I'll be able to use it.

Same problem here on a '92 TBI 350 AND an '89 TBI 4.3...

Neither has any codes stored.

No obvious vacuum leaks on either, I've looked closely.

The 350 has all new ignition; plugs, wires, cap, rotor, module, AND coil. Even cut the CAT off to see if it was plugged. Has a lot more power now, but still does the surging idle thing exactly as before.

???

Tip:

When your asking a question it would be nice if you would help us out a little with stuff like YEAR, CID, FI not FI. etc.

Unplug the hose to your EGR and drive it and see if it happens. It WILL throw a light but ignore it.
