Does anybody know of what all parts should be replaced in a motor swap?
I'm planning on buying a 350 out of 87 k30 and puting it into an 84 k10 that currently has the factory 305. Will the flexplate swap over?
the 305 has:
new starter
new alternator
newer fuel pump

I am trying to get a list together so I don't have to run to the parts store every ten minutes.
Motor Mounts
fuel pump
oil filter
fuel filter
antifreeze
gasket set
thermostat

Should be a direct swap, take the best of both and make one... bolt it up and run it!

You really don't need the gasket set, thermostat, fuel pump, or motor mounts unless you can't scavenge them from either engine.

there are alot of parts that you don't "need" or "should" be replaced. BUT When I put a new engine in my 78 I put all new parts in....if it came off it got replaced with new...I'm building my 76 the same way. Nothing is all that expensive, unless you add them all together:doah: but the piece of mind is priceless...these rigs are old and I go to some pretty remote places in mine, I need assurance I can get home.

few diffrences.

87 first year tbi injection and 1 peice rear main seal blockes were used also. diffrent pan gasket/flexplate/some blocks no drill-n-tap-machine work for mech fuel pump to bolt up. flex plate patter is smaller ( 1-peice ) than on older ( 2-peice ) rear main seal style cranks.

also if keeping the carb stuff from your 84 then the intake will need to be swaped for a edelbrock unit for 87-95 style heads as the 4 center bolts changed there angles. but some people just hoog out the holes and seal the crap out of them. ( i have a edelbrock for sale search here for it )

but basicly other than that its not a whole lot diffrent. you might wana go check those few things out first before getting in to the swap and have to find ways to fix stuff to work.

Good catch! :waytogo: I was going on the premise that it was a carb motor for a carb motor... :doah:
