engine swap question

I have a friend that has a 1989 chevy half ton p/u w/ tbi 350/5 speed. He wants to put in an older(built 1970's carb. 350). Will this go right in, tranny issues? thanx in advance.

86/87( can't remember) and up 350's have an externally balanced flywheel/flexplate, the 70's require a neutral balance flywheel. It shouldn't be to expensive to get one from a parts house. Just get the right size!

All 350 are balanced the same

The engine flywheels are different, the later engine has a one piece rear seal crankshaft, the earlier engines have a two piece rear seal, the ends of the crankshafts are different due to the different seal designs requiring a flywheel to match the crankshaft.
