can you just drop in a sbc 350 or 454 or something into a 85 K20 that has a 6.2 diesel?

yep, but on teh auto, the torque converter is different for the diesels. Different stall. On the maunaul.....not sure what has to change

i see. so ide need the engine and a new torque converter. it would be nice to get a 383 and make it a monster.
Where in college station are you because I am up here in the week so maybe I could give you a few pointers to help you if you still want try it.

i want to try it, but i dont have an engine yet. still looking for a 350, 383, or 454...really anything 350 or bigger. but im like less than a mile south of campus
I am on Southwest parkway toward hwy 6 where are you in relation to that.
