does anybody know if a 78 cadillac 425 will bolt up to a 83 700r4?
there is one on craigslist here in junction for dirt cheap and it runs strong.
thought it might be a good swap into my blazer to get rid of the 305.

For putting a Caddy big block in our trucks, it will need an adapter for the tranny, but they are available for around $150 I think. The accessories and wiring will take some work too.

A stock '83 700r4 will not hold up to the abuse for very long though. The later models ('87-'88 and up) were stronger though.

the 700 has had a rebuild with shift kits and stronger clutch packs put in it. just debating whether to do a mild rebuild on the 305 or do a swap.
sounds like the swap is going to be a bit more than i wanted to do with the adaptars and wiring.

JEGS or SUMMIT Racing has the adapter plates for about 75 bucks ,last time I looked, prices might have risen since then though..your beefed up 700r4 should live, the 425 isn't any stronger than a good built up 350 would be ..
