quick question for someone who knows more than I do. Im looking at a 95 chevy 1500 with a 305 and a 5 speed, kicker is 305 is blown up. would the only direct bolt in be a 305 from the same era or could I use a v6 or a 350.

350 would work but you need a different ecm to know about the bigger CI. Everything else would be the same though, as long as the motor was from the same era truck.

So I can use a different size engine as long as the larger motor comes with an ecm from a pickup as well would it have to be the exact same year.
Would have to be 87-95 as they switched to vortec in 96
Yes as long as you get the ECM with the engine and the engine is from the same era ( for you 92 to 95 was the same) then you would be fine, you could even go with the 4.3 V6 as you mentionned as long as you got the ECM with it.
The wiring should be the same.
