engine year

i know i know its been asked a thousand times but where can i find the engine year on a 350? reason i ask is i have an 85 k5 but the engine and trans have been swapped and im about to buy a new trans...or does it matter??

As for bolting a trans to the engine the year doesn't matter. The only thing that could matter is if you were needing to change a flywheel/flexplate then it would need to fit either 1985-earlier (2 piece rear main seal engine with 3.58" bolt circle) or 1986-later (1 piece rear main seal engine with 3" bolt circle).
