I have a set of 882 heads that I bought last weekend, and a 305 block sitting at home can these two things come together to build a backup motor. I might re-ring the 305 and put in a new cam/timing chain. The motor has 2 different heads on it now a large chamber and a small chamber ( got that way )

This is only going to be used offroad not a dd type rig.

No, the 305 heads that came with the block have a 58cc combustion chamber that when combined with the soap dish pistons created a nominal CR.
Slapping those 882's on there with the 76cc bathtub open chambers will drop the CR thru the floor..............but you could always bolt a 6% overdriven 4-71 blower on top and terrorize the neighbors
