okay so this will be my first time doing this and im just wondering what's all involved in an engine swap.

i found a guy with a 425 big block for free so i can't pass up that offer. what do i need to transport the engine in the back of my truck? and what do i need to put it in?

and this engine will be going into my 1969 coupe deville... not my suburban.

thanks for any input guys

Get an engine hoist, get the motor, set it on a tire, all you need to pull, put in a motor is a socket set, wrenches, maybe some screwdrivers, and time. Good luck and take your time.

yeah engine swaps arent hard at all.. just lotta lil detail work of vacume lines and wires thats all, engine hoist.. old spare tire to put the engine in back of truck and regular set of wrenches should get the old one out and new one in.

i was just cruising back here in the old posts and searching before asking, but i was wondering if it was the same for the 6.2. and do it have to take out the tranny when i pull the motor or can i work around that? hopefully someone sees this lol and thanks for the help in advance!!!!!!!!!

I will try to be useful, yes its pretty much the same no you don't have to take the transmission out.

Just remember the engine should come out pretty easy, if its not you probably forgot a bolt. If it seems like you are forcing it you are!
