Anyone know the easiest way to get in and clean out the evap core? Dont really wanna rip the whole thing apart like you have to do to get at the heater core. Didnt know if there was some removable panel that I just overlooked.

Reason Im asking, just got my a/c hooked back up and it isnt getting super cold. Its in the mid-50's at the vents and its not blowing really hard, figure start by cleaning it. Doesnt really smell that I can tell, but good lord theres a big block sitting in front of me puking out all kinds of intoxicating smells :D so who knows.

yeh thats kinda what I was thinking sittin here, is that the side of the core that would collect the large debris?

yup, if you have flexible arms, you Might be able to pull the blower motor out and get to it, but I don't think there is enough room that way.

When an A/C unit doesn't blow very cold it is usually a condensor that is full of crap (leaves, bugs, and such). Also the A/C isn't very effiecent at idle since there is little to no air flow across the condensor unless you have installed an electric fan that engages when the A/C is requested.

yeh my condenser is new, replaced it this past weekend b/c the old one had a huge hole in it. AC hasnt worked in......6 or 7 yrs so who knows how much crap is built up in that box.

Did you replace the orifice tube also? Did you replace the condensor and recharge the system yourself? If so did you evac the system first?

yep, replaced orifice tube, took it to my buddys shop, vac'd down the system, shot in some oil, charged it up. Thinkin maybe I just dont have quite enough refrig in it, but I figured Id clean that before I go adding more refrig.
