In my garage
I have many many containers full of crap for square body GM. Stuff I've forgotten about, and some stuff I swear I never remember getting. :doah:

I was looking for a tali light harness that I swore i had (must have used it) and found a York compressor for OBA I forgot about, hyrdoboost PS pump with extended res., three rearview mirros, and a complete clutch master, line, slave and res for hydro clutch.

Still have no idea where or when I got that...

Anyone else find parts years later and go "hey... where did that come from again?"

Rene

I have a pile of 350's and con only remember where one came from:doah:

But yes, I find cool stuff I hoarded away occasionally. Kinda like finding a forgotten $20 bill while doing laundry.

I like going through dads stuff and seeing what all is there. Garage near three times the size of the house stacked full, plus he has stuff stashed inside the cars in the yard as well as down on the farm. Gonna be one heck of an auction whenever he decides to sell out. Till then hes still buying lol.

Just a couple days ago i pulled my nos 68-82 vette valve covers out to see how they fit on the new dart heads going in my 80, he simply said "Where'd you get those?" I told him he was standing right next to me when i bought them at the swapmeet last year. One of these days we will be able to start selling his own stuff back to him :D (joke my mom says).

Every now and then I come across something I'd completely forgotten about. For example, I pulled out my carhart overalls a while back, and when I put them on I felt a lump in the chest pocket. Pulled it out and discovered $500 cash I'd gotten for selling something and forgot to pull out before I pulled the coveralls off, haha I was making plenty of dough at the time, and I guess it wasn't hard for that much cash to slip my mind, LOL

It was certainly appreciated when I found it a few months ago, covered a truck payment I wasn't gonna be able to make :D

I have only really been wrenching and working on my junk for the four years I have had it so I guess I have to wait many more years to find stored treasures as you guys are doing now. Maybe my 6 year old son will be selling me my own parts back to me in 10 years or so. unique and good thread.

Yep.....I sure have plenty of parts squirrelled away, attic, crawl space, basement areas.

I can't believe all the weird stuff I've saved just because "you never know"...

I've got a complete extra 2WD frame for the 'Burb, a complete dash and windshield pillars that were cut out of a '67 Panel, some old inner wheel tubs, etc. etc.

Then I have the "pricey" stuff that I'd rather forget I'd ever spent money on....the T56 Viper tranny comes to mind.

It's going to be a VERY wierd feeling when the truck is finally finished and all the parts that are scattered around finally end up back on the truck where they belong. The garage will feel EMPTY and my storage areas will be barren..... :waytogo:

:usaflag:

I do that all the time,go looking for a part I "know" I have "somewhere--and find things I forgot I had or dont recall getting,period..and NEVER find the part I went to look for originally !..I have a habit of using something,or giving it away, tossing it,etc, then still think I have it "somewhere"..I guess CRS sets in after 50 huh??..

Just yesterday when I discovered my Burb has a 12 bolt rear in it,I said to myself "cool.I have a chromed 12 bolt diff cover in my parts pile, that I can use to replace the crusty one on it now"...but a LONG search turned up nothing!--I am thinking maybe I gave it to the guy who bought my '79 Bonanza (and he probably never used it too--the truck is now sitting in a local junkyard,he put 35K on it and then bought a F250 4x4,and he said he would have GIVEN it back to me,if he thought I had any interest in it again!..:doah:..now its awaiting export to a third world country..still in decent shape bodywise too :( )

I have "found" a lot of parts I forgot I saved off my 74 K2500 and a '73 K10 I had,in my shed while looking for tractor parts,like a steering colum,power brake booster,and master cylinder ,NP203 transfer case,shifter,and a TH400 short tail off a '74 monte carlo that had a 454,etc...I "found" a spare TH350 with a lockup converter that fits my '81 G-10 van too,I totally forgot about that came on the 305 I swapped into the Bonanza..funny how I find things I forgot I had,but think I still have the things I gave away,used already or sold,huh??...

i've probably got enough SBC crap out there to to build three full engines.then there is there is the pile-o-leaf springs(loose) and pile-o-driveshafts, pile-o-16.5 inch rims.
Fock I give up!

Oops. Sorry bout that I'm on my phone. But I have a ton of stuff too. Usually when I'm bored I go through it. Now that you meantioned it I have a full hydroboost I took off a low mileage wrecked truck and haven't seen it lately. Time to go digging

its always funny when you are looking for that one special thing in the garage and cant find it.then you find 5 other things youve bought for your truck over the last couple months just sitting in a box in the corner.

Thats awsome! My brother-in-law was using me as a bank for a while. He was trying to save up for a tranny for his cummins and he had givin me a total of $500. I took the money and put it in a "safe place" and then when he asked for it I had forgot all about hiding it. I took $500 out of my stash and gave it to him and just about a month ago I went to get something and found the $500 I had hidden. LMAO!

Unrelated but I just got a call from a parts vendor for my company last week and they said I have an outstanding credit for $1290! I said "thank you" and then I hung up and danced a jig.

Yes. A 205 with new 32-spline input and ORD shift rails, rebuild about 3/4 finished, 2 203 range boxes, one drilled for (well-meaning but sorta questionable...) 6-bolt pattern, 2 transfer case cross members, one nicely painted in RustBullet, a set of caddy calipers with rebuild kits, a hydroboost setup including pedal. At the current pace, none of these are ever going to see daylight again. Particularly since I changed my mind re transfer case(s). Newest acquisition: a box of TBI conversion parts - who knows when that'll be pressed into action...

But I think I've learned a lesson in this: only purchase things of the "insta-bolt" variety...

Insta-bolt...:haha:

My stash has allowed me to to so far take care of every issue and repair on the '90 blazer, so it's harder for me to be self critical. I do wish I had a set of 3.73 10 bolts lying around though...

I kinda ran my parts supply low. :(

I guess thats what happens when you stop buying and building. lol

It was really nice needing something for somebodys truck, and saying oh **** I got that!!!

Nice sig Rene :wink1::haha:
