i dunno why this happened - it's my power steering resevoir. on my 6.2, it's remotely located above the pump. about a week and a half ago i noticed that there was a gaping hole in my resevoir, so i topped it off over and over till i could get it fixed - they don't make replacements. i was thinking about using a water bottle, but figured i'd try and weld it liquid-tight. :wink1: turned out perfect and doesn't leak.... so taht's cool! :D

no - nothing tubs right there. i wondered about something hitting it, but what confuses me about that is that if it were hit by something, it would have been a REALLY hard hit to actually remove material (it wasn't just ripped off the bracket - material was missing!), and at that point it was hanigng off the engine. a couple days later it broke completely off of the bracket, which would imply taht it would have had to have been hit a second time...

that's all i can figure too... except that it seems the failure wouldn't be as catastrophic. seems like a simple crack would cause a leak and that's about all that would happen. oh well... it's all good.

i did learn that those resevoirs are put together by brazing tho... kinda interesting. not sure i've ever seen brazing on anything before. the top and bottom caps are brazed to the cylinder.
