which is better /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Whichever one runs you over first /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif j/k...umm The nice thing about the Excursion is the Powerstroke, but I think I would still have to go with the Suburban. I've heard of many transmission problems with the Excursion. Friend has one and hates it... /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif

Vs. a current model Burb, I have to say Excursion.
Solid axle, leaf sprung, Diesel, 5 speed auto . . . can be purchased in a stripped down version unlike the new Suburbans.
Oh yeah and as a 4wd it isn't mistaken for a 2wd like the new Burbs.

My brother had one for a few years while he was in Colorado, I loved driving it when we got together. Pulled like nothing else I've driven (less Semi's) was easy to drive and handled well off road for a stock rig with street biased tires. It is however much like trying to negotiate and Air Craft Carrier off road and in small parking lots.

Vs. an older Burb, the Burb hands down for reasoons to numerous to list, but cost of upgrades plays a hugh factor.

I'm voting for the Excursion 'cause of the diesel and solid front axles option...

Yes... ALOT the expediton is based off the F150 the Excusstion is based of the Superduty(F250/F350)
Wich means the option of the powerstrok and having a SFA.
as far as which is better. It all depends what you plan to do. But if you plan on lifting it and taking it out to the woods with out doing ALOT of work the exusrsion would probably be a easier build rig. Mainly because of the SFA

Excursion looks great on paper but, has been in the top 5 biggest lemons on www.lemonlaw.com since Ford introduced it. I learned this while doing research for wife's vehicle. As much as I wanted a diesel X (7.3 not the dreaded 6.0) I ended up going with the Yukon. Wife doesn't wheel anyhow.

Go with a Suburban with a 8.1. Will pull great too, my dad drove one for a bit and pulled our boat up the mountains a few times and the thing hauled ass, we took it off road too. It did very well with some 265's that were an all terrain tread instead of the stock 245's that were street tires. Oh and not to mention they drive and ride GREAT! compared to a SFA Excursion.

I've test driven the new Excursion with the 6.0, 4wd, and all the additional goodies, and it was quite a ride. Great acceleration, good brakes, and a nice ride. I've been thinking of getting one to tow my K5, but at the same time I have been thinking of a '91 Sub with a 4L80.

Id go with the 8.1 or 5.3 suburban my dad has the 5.3 and the thing rides awsome and get good gas milage on the highway
