well im having a shop put my shackle flip on since im out of town working and probably will never ever get to it, so i was thinking today about my exhaust.

i have true duals that turn out right behind the rear tires, now i know they are gonna get in the way of the flip and is going to need to be cut, soooo when the shop calls me on what i want to do,......................

should i have them cut them the most minimal that they can to clear the shackels or should i have them cut it farther back and dump them straight down?

or is there another way?

I don't know about your state but here in Missouri the exhaust has to exit past the passenger compartment, which for a blazer is the entire truck. So dumping it wouldn't be legal. But if I had the option i would dump it down just past the axle.

I run my exaust out behind the rear tires, even with the shackle flip. When put the flip on I had the gas tank out (which you are supposed to do anyway IIRC). I aslo put a new used exaust system on. I put the brackets on and installed the exaust without any problems. Then put the axle/springs in (was also going with lift springs and a 14FF).

Now fast forward a couple years...the exaust system got all rusty and needed to be replaced. I couldn't get it out to save my life. I ended up cutting it appart with the torch. When putting the new system on...same problem, I couldn't get the tail pipes to snake their way through without hitting any thing. Eventually I got them through, it was tight. If I would have installed the tail pipes first and worked my way forward it would have been allot easier. So if the shop can pull the pipes off, they might be able to disconnect the system at the front, pull it forward, install pipes and reconnect everything. Or just have them remove the pipes and toss them in the back of the truck for you.

The biggest clearance problem I had was with the gas tank skid plate. If I had left the 25 gallon in without any skid plate, I probably would have been fine.

I can try to get some pics tomarow when it's light out.

i live in weld county in colorado which is an emission exempt state, i dont have any emission stuff left on the ol k5 not even cats so i think i should be ok with running them wherever, but thanks for the heads up on that in case i ever move anywhere else.

my duals are only 2 years old (hell the outside of the pipe hasent even got surface rust on it) so removing it was kinda out of the question.

i would like to see pics of your set up. if its possible to leave them alone that would be great but when i left i remember looking at it and i didnt see how it would be possible.
