I am going to be using Camaro exhaust manifolds for my 6.0 swap and it turns out they use a unique exhaust flange.

I'm having trouble finding them for a decent price so I'm thinking of making them myself. Any magic to it? Cut the shape, drill the holes, done. right?

How thick should I make them? I've seen 3/8 and 5/16. I'm guessing bigger is better, less chance of warping. Any downsides?

Thanks.

I managed to find these 2 .pdf documents for the flanges. Unfortunately the drivers side drawing doesn't print at the true scale but its a start.

I guess I'm the only one dealing with this issue.

Anyway, I'm going to buy some 3/8 plate tomorrow and try making them up. Another interesting thing I realized is that the 2 manifolds don't have the same size exit hole. The drivers side is 2.5 and the passenger is 2.3. weird. :dunno:

Oh and to answer the question, i'm thinking thicker would be better. As long as it can withstand the heat etc.

You may want to get a C.O. detector for the inside of the cabin just to check for leaks. Kind of anal i know, but they're relatively cheap.

I took a look at the exhaust flanges that came with the engine and they are 3/8 so I'm going to go with that for now.

BTW, didn't you use to work as a latex salesman? :P

And yeah, the different sizes are weird. The stock truck and TBSS manifolds are different from side to side. The do however, use the same flange. (TBSS and Truck)

Got em done yesterday.

Printed both diagrams from the .pdf files above. The one on the left I had to print at 132% to get it correct.

I decided to trace the exhaust manifolds to get the outside shape.

All done. I wish I would have left a bit more material on the left side of the right one but it'll work for what I need.
