The exhaust needs replacement on my 84 K2500. Has anyone had any luck purchasing a manafold back dual exhaust system? Doing some reading and research it sounds like the available kits leave a lot to be desired.
I contacted a kit manufacturer (hearthrob) and asked 1 simple question "does you kit retain the factory exhaust heater control valve" . They had no idea! Come on guys if you sell a kit at least know something about it.

Anyways looking for feedback.
Thanks guys!

Are you trying to retain the heat control?

I used a Jegs house brand on mine 20 years ago. It fit well. Now that I’ve moved stuff underneath I bought a “universal kit” and will have to do more work

You will need to put in shorter stud and make sure the manifold is bevel cut to accept the donut

Otherwise remove the flap and plug the holes to the outside

In my town, as long as your not going 3", the local shops will bend up an engine back set for you $300. I'd check your local shops quick

I wish I lived in your town.

The Camaro cost me $225 at one place, 2" manifold back, including mufflers... But that was like 18 years ago lol. Probably $300-500 now.

Second one was a different place about 8 years ago. And was $250 for 2.25" on a 4x4. Header back.

May be higher now lol:dunno:

I just installed a Hooker manifold back dual exhaust system and it was designed to have the heater valve in but would have reached up and mounted to the manifold. The exhaust on that side would end up a little closer to the floor. My heater valve had been modified by PO with the valve removed and the holes welded closed. I bored out the center to ~2 1/8" and left it in place.

Thanks for the info. Did you like the way the kit fit? I have yet to find one that got decent reviews.

I was amazed how well it went around everything and the quality met my demands, I can find flaws in most manufactured parts. The fit of the tubing was super nice at each joint. It cleared the transfercase drop perfectly which isn't much room. The only issue was the passenger tube makes contact with the NP208's torque arm that bolts to the engine. It's 2 1/4", I wanted 2 1/2" but it was a huge improvement over the crushed and bent 2" tubes the PO had in there.

The dynomax kit is borderline trash, though it works. I believe they offer both a manifold, and header version.

I bought the dynomax kit. No complaints, it’s pretty generic but it works. Clamps the kit comes with are junk.

Up in the great white north it would have been a $1000 touch to have a set of true duals bent up. Which is worth more than most of my trucks :doah:

I read the reviews on Summit for that kit and seems like no one had it fit right. Which part number did you order? Thx
