Exhaust leak

Get you a piece of hose, and a funnel. Attach the funnel to the end of the hose, hold it up to your exhaust, hold the other end to your ear. You can run it just like a stethoscope (sic) and pinpoint the leak. Works great for finding loose rockers as well.

sheck it on a cold morning and watch for it, or pour a little trans fluid down the carb and see where the smoke is coming from.

you can use your hand around it and feel the puffs coming out. i found a few above the muffler that way.

i've used both methods. they work. but, instead of tranny fluid, i used fuel system cleaner and sucked it straight into the manifold through the brake booster hose. i put a thick sock over the tailpipe to keep a little more pressure and contain the smoke in the system. it helped, plus it looked funny sticking straight out :haha:and wiggling around.

I find it hard to believe this isn't listed, but take a squirt bottle with soapy water in it. Hook the outlet of your shop vac up to your tailpipe. Turn the shop vac on, spray the water on your joints or rusty spots. Bubbles = leaks. Added benefit: you don't get burned, and you can work on it right away,
