I tried to mount my exhaust manifold from a 84' 305 to my 79' 350, and it doesn't fit. I want these to the 350 because they have smog stuff on it. Any suggestions

Holes don't line up? The manifold prolly warped. Mine did. I never thought it could happen till I called my guy at the dealer and said they yeah they warp, and he actually keeps a manifold stretcher there for that reason, most of the time they break he said. If thats what happened try drilling the holes a little bigger on the problem holes. I had to drill the front leg holes just enough to be able to mount it.

If it doesn't fit for another reason I am lost because they all have the same pattern.

Bolt pattern is the same, like said above it's warped. The best solution would be to replace it with a new one. But with the carefull application of some heat and a maifold stretcher you can get it back on.

You can make a stretcher with an old socket, washer, nut and bolt. Take an old socket and grind a notch (in the end where the ratchet would go) in it so it will lock into the manifold. Place a bolt with the nut threaded onto it in the hex end, with the washer between the nut and socket. Place the tool into the open space and crank the bolt down the threads...spreading the manifold appart. You may have to grind a notch into the bolt head to keep it in place. I'll see if I can find a pic, it'll make sense once you see what it looks like.

Edit: This is what the tool looks like if you buy one.

I've got the same problem with my ram's horm manifolds on my centerbolt heads.I'll be looking for one locally that's for damn sure.I never heard of one.

I would think drilling the end bolt holes out a tad to be a ton easier. From my experience you usually are talking at most an 1/8" off at one end or the other.

If your going to use a manifold spreader you must heat the manifold while cranking on the spreaders.Like cherry red over a large area between the ports that need to be spread apart.I have done several manifolds with no breakage.

I bolt up the middle.Heat n spread the front til the bolts go in,do the same to the rear, slip the gasket in,tighten up the bolts, pull the spreaders.Easy stuff :D

Make sure you get two :D

You can also use one of those quick clamps that visegrip makes. Turn it around so it spreads instead of clamps.

GM makes brand new ram horns. It has a straight dump, 2 1/2 inch outlets, left side. I bought two, and grinded off the alt. bracket and ran it on the pass side also. You won't even notice that it was ground off. They were off of the corvette 327 high outputs in the early 60's. I'll see if I can find a part number. I sold the Impala I had them on.
