ok i have a 94 burban with a tbi 5.7 i recently acquired a poping sound out of the exhaust i think it is in the valve train. Any ideas or common problems with these motors anyone knows of thanks

lotsa things can do it...

Could be a valve problem,an exhaust valve might be burnt,or a valve spring broke,a lifter might have pumped up and is holding a valve open.,a broken rocker arm, bent pushrods, maybe a flat cam lobe--could be spark related too, timing off,bad plug wire, fouled plug, distibutor cap cracked, bad rotor,--also an air pump can cause backfiring if the diverter valve on it fails(not all trucks have AIR pumps)....time to get the tools out..good luck..

thanks guys i am giveing it a full tune up and checking timeing on saturday i will also yank the valve covers and give it a look
