My exhaust is literally crumbling at the seams! Sounds like a motorboat (if you have seen wedding crashers you would understand when my friends hear me coming down the street and say "you motorboatin son-of-a-bitch you!")...anyways...I have two options which would you do on a limited budget? Both would require removal of the factory cat (the truck should run ok right?)

1 - A local shop quoted me $290 to cut out the cat, install a no name muffler, and exit a single 2 1/2 exhaust pipe. They were going to leave the factory manifolds and y-pipe on, and run the rest.

2 - This guy at theheadershop.com quoted me about $378 shipped for flowtech headers, dynomax dual pipe kit, two turbo mufflers...Of course I would have to install this myself (w/o welding all clamps).

Which would you go for?????

I would do the headers & full exhaust, it is only $100 or so more & should improve your over-all performance. That is if you have the extra $100 to spend. consider getting someone to weld it up after the install too. It will last better if you do.

Now either way the cat will be removed (hopefully I can find someone to do a NYS inspection and pass it) but......how will it make the truck run without a cat?

the rest of it is rusted out and has more holes than swiss cheese!

Well, I broke down and had it done the cheap way out. Single setup with no cat, flowmaster 40 muffler, from factory y pipe back. It sounds great and I did it with $100 to spare from the original quote.....found a local shop around the way that hooked me up!

Now I can use the extra $100 to buy some zero rates to fix the saggy butt syndrome!
