I run Doug Thorley Tri-Yheaders, Magnaflows and H pipe on my BBC with no popping, the neighbors on the next farm over (1/2 mi. away) know when I start it. 
Remember when you but your H or X pipe in that you will eventially need to be able to drop your transfer case with out dropping your exhaust , don't ask me how I know.
