I am reduing my exhaust system, i bought s super 44's 3'' in and 3'' out, i have and will be keeping stock manafolds, i wanted to run 3'' from them back, wanted to know before i started, what size if anyone knows are thoes where the pipes hook up, and should i just but say a 2'' to a 3'' pipe on that that gets bigger? Any suggestions and ideas to make my life a tad easier before I start will be appreciated! Thanks gentlemen

Depending on what year your talking about it should be a 2" or 2 1/4" pipe coming off the manifold. How are you going to bend the pipe. I do alot of custom exhaust on cars/trucks and 3" pipe is tuff to bend with out smashing the inside of the bend. You'd be better off bumping your pipe up from 2" to 2 1/2" and running that all the way out. It will look nicer and flow better than a smashed 3".

will also ask a friend regarding this. he might know more. will post when i get an update.

I will take a picture of mine for you tomorrow. I have Hooker comp headers going into true duals with Flowmaster 40's. After the mufflers I have about 2 feet maybe 2 and a half for tail pipes on each side. Both have a very slight turn down.

It is quiet while idleing and driving down the road. But above 3k and it gets LOUD and RASPY.

Actually I might be able to pull a pic from facebook.

Found one. Dont mind the crappy cab corner patches it's not a show truck lol.

And to answer your original question, I have 2 1/4" ID mufflers and they went right over what I believe is the original size exhaust.

My '91 has 2.5 pipe; I used 2.25 in/out 40's in a true dual setup on my zz4 SB.

Sounds like a musclecar. I will eventually add an equalizer pipe, as it does tend to get a bit poppy when the RPMs are high.

I'd lose the 3's and go 2.5

i'm running dual 2.5's off headers, no cats, back about 3/4 the way into Ford Cobra Mustang mufflers :tongue1: then angled out the sides right in front of the rear tires.

This was suppose to be a temporary solution cause i smashed up the crossover pipe pretty badly on the last outting.

Anyways, i got cut off from my internet... So i think i understand, two optioins, send them back and get the right inlet size matching the manifold size, and have the outlet hole be 3'' (if performance wise that this would be smart). Or option two buy headers with 3'' outlet, if so what are pros of cons of headers, i have heard they can be a paint and leak?
