So for anyone who saw my first thread about my new k5, i really hate how that double pipe crap looks sticking out of the drivers side rear so i chopped that crap off right behind the rear wheel today and after, of course.. When i have the rear window down i smell fumes, i know not to smart of me.

From experience with my s10 i never had this issue but then again there isnt a window or top that can come off on that one so perhaps i just never noticed it.

Question: Is there a way to prevent the smell from the pipe coming in without having to have the pipe routed to the side all stock looking?

A turndown perhaps? that is my only guess.

Thanks!

Pretty much no. I was just about to post in your thread that you should leave them sticking out the side :haha:

When driving the draft actually sucks up in the back. I know this because when the seal let go on my transfer case and spewed tranny fluid out.. I saw alot of small spots of fluid on my rear window and tailgate...

The only real way to get it to not suck in fumes it to rout it out the side. I too hate that look of the dual pipes on one side. I would reroute one of the pipes to the other side so you have duals sticking out both sides. Just my opinion.

You could also stick em out in front of the rear tires if you like that look better. :dunno:

I get zero fumes with mine stuck out the sides fyi. Even with the slider windows on the top open.

Yeah im thinking thats what i will do, one on each side.

I wont mind that near as much as the double pipe stock look, i just hated that.

So heres to keeping my rear window up for a couple weeks. hehe.

Yah, I think it looks mega ghey.....

You should be able to re attach the one side that was already sticking out... then just re route the other side :waytogo:

But get on that $hit. No rear window down is a major bummer :D

indeed, also eager to pop the top ASAP.

Ill prob have new pipes ran tho, the stuff i cut off was very ugly.

One thing im not looking forward to is the rust that im thinking will be under that
top when i unbolt it. :eek1:

Check out my build thread in my sig below, about post #450 is where it starts. I fixed it all and then painted over with POR-15. It comes in black and silver and the stuff dries hard as H3LL!!! I laid a line of tape so it would stick out with the top on.

on it :waytogo:

Add one of those rear wing spoilers, they're suppose to push air down over the rear window helping keep it clean and changing the air flow , may prevent sucking air in the back window.
