seems alot of people spend money on tips, but when I look at them they seem pretty simple and no sound or performance changes seem to be made,

but I hear and read poeple saying it makes a change in sound.

just looks

or does it add a different tone:confused:

2 things, looks obvioulsy and sound. Tips definetly change the sound. i had 3.5" tips and had a very deep sound, pulled them off (to make room for bigger tires) and it was a little more aggressive, a little raspier, more of a race car sound...thats with 2.5" tubing and dual exahust (flowmasters dual chamber 40's)

i dont like exhaust tips, unless they're on PSD trucks... anything else looks better with raw exhaust... but they DO change the sound..

they do change tone a fair bit, I got 4"x24" on mine, big ole megaphone right in other cars windows ;)

They made a huge diff on my 97. I put a set of Flows on it when I first bought it, 2 chambers IIRC, and duals straight out the back. It was f'n loud, actually sounded like crap, too much like a$$packs. Put some 4x24" tips on, and was still loud, but didn't have that stupid raspy sound. I could set off car alarms, miss the truck already. But they don't give you anymore performance, but as long as it sounds good, who cares??
