Exhaust Types?

I am located in the East bay, right by the delta in Brentwood (not la brentwood). I finally did some research and did find the headman headers that are California legal that come with the spots for the A.I.R. injection and stuff. Might be the way to go. It never had Cats from the factory thank god. If I go with the headers I will deff be doing the 50s. Headers + no cats + 50s will be almost as loud as a modern car with all the smog stuff and 40s is what I would guess.

in the garage section is a thread on headers . ..what fits and dosnt hit the shackles or shackle bolts . and also stays up in the frame rails better .

lots of headers fit yes but cause lots of problems.

Dual 40s dumped under the truck no H or X pipe = loud ass American beastly v8, the way it is supposed to sound! Haha, that's just how I like my burbling classic cammed V8s. I have an FJ Cruiser for a quiet, practical daily driver so having something raw and loud is refreshing. I actually originally had dual glass packs running all the way out the back on both sides of the truck before going with flowmasters and was amazed just how much quieter the 40 series flowmasters were, even dumping in front of the rear axle. In all honesty though, the 40 series aren't that loud if you have carpet and a full interior. It's mild at low rpm and gets mean sounding when you goose it.

I would have ~30 people pissed off every morning before I got 1/32 mile from my house if I drove something that loud.

Both the C10 and K5 I plan to be in hours at a time. If I didnt, maybe loud and beasty would be fine. But after 2 days on the Rubicon, being loud during and after is last I want. :)

Yea, I agree. In the camaro I want it to be beastly and annoying, that is the enjoyment. The jimmy is not my DD, but I still plan on driving it quite often, 3 hour trips to tahoe and 4am start ups for work wont cut it being Beast loud. Just a nice grumble of the 50 series I think I have decided on.

Just really really try to get at least an H pipe in. It would be in your best interest to not only go the extra mile, but go several extra to make it happen.

My truck with a stock 305 and 2.25" aerochambers. Makes the perfect 'old truck burble' imo. Loud enough to be heard but its never obnoxious. Nice K5!

id go with a Flowmaster delta flow, nice rumble without the interior resonance. I wouldnt want anything rowdy on such a clean rig.

How it sounds, all depends on what engine you are running.

My 88 K5 has a new stock gm crate 350 tbi, with cast iron manifolds a cat, single 70 series and stock exit. It sounds great but is fairly quiet, although loud compared to a 2005 chevy 5.3 with stock exhaust.

My 79 C20 has a built 406 sbc with a 264H roller cam, headers, 3" cat, 3" 70 series and stock exit. It is way louder and more aggressive than the K5. People know it isn't stock. When it had a super 44, it could be heard easily a mile away and people wanted to race me multiple times per week, at stop lights. The 40 series wasn't as deep sounding but was still very loud and had the classic muscle car sound. This truck is my DD and the noise was finally too much. The 70 is great and with the windows rolled up, the road and wind noise is louder than the exhaust.

The 50 sounds like crap..........I had one on the 79 when I had a stock rebuilt 350 in it, but with the headers and 3" single pipe. It is too sporty sounding. It all depends on what you like..........and that could change with age or hearing damage catching up to you, like it did me.
