exhaust-what do you guys think of this kit?

As long as you have the correct offsets on the muffler as the kit states you must, don't see anything particularly bad about that kit, although I do question those exhaust "hangers".

The exhaust has to be supported pretty well, those hangers to me look like the offer nothing other than to hold it up. Any factory exhaust hangar I can think of essentially keeps the exhaust from moving "up" just as much as "down". Particularly with headers, I'd expect hangers like that to cause leaks and/or other problems as the various joints and tubing is stressed from bumps. Probably easy to rectify if you felt like it.

I know people even use plumbers strap, like the shop that put the duals on my Dad's truck. Both his tailpipes just recently fell off within a week of each other.

i plan on using 1/4 or half inch round bar and a big hammer and make some, so it doesn't bounce when i go wheeling.

Any reason you are picking the dual over a single system? I suppose they don't make headers for a single setup?

A single 3" setup would be easier to deal with, if there is a kit.

I wasn't aware there were even header kits, so I think it's pretty cool. Certainly saves from having to have one done by someone else, or buying one for manifolds and hacking it up.

If you can weld and cut metal... U bends from summit, $16 each. Cut and twist and weld...

Ill never have another exhaust made for me. Much to cheap and easy IMO.

going to practice my welding on some spar tubes i have laying around but not very good at it yet have a couple of weeks before i can put it on have to get a set of headers strip and paint them, cant afford ceramics.

I just liked it because I could may my tubing go wherever I wanted... Just cut some angles, and straights, twist it till you likt it, then tack tack... Then once you like everything, take it all out and weld it on a bench...

that kit hangs down really low in the back, I put one on in 08 and it made it about a day before I ripped it off. I ended up having the muffler shop build me muffler back tubes that tucked up like normal. when I redid the exhaust on my k5 a couple months ago I bought that same kit but cut and welded the exit pipes.

well ill have to fix it because its on the way, cant have it till xmas but at least i have it.

when you weld exhaust tubing what do you set your welder to?
i have on from harbor freight, cheap but works.

I have that kit, it was pretty easy to install, fits, and works well enough. The hangers aren't great, but they'll do the job. Just FYI, with 40 series flowmaster and headers it'll likely be fairly loud at cruise and have some drone, but I imagine you know that already. I have similar-sized Thrush mufflers and has a nice mellow idle. It exits behind the rear tires. Depending on how you're set up, it does hang a bit low if you don't have a lift.

I'm assuming that you have the Hooker Comp headers. The fit is nice with those, just be aware that the exhaust is a 2.5 inch collector, so if you have a different brand of header you might have some fit issues.

Flex couplers or ball joint style pipes behind the header outlets work great for offroading/flexing. Behind the tire tailpipe is a problem when you come off a rock or ledge. It will twist the system. Straight out the back might be better. I build bolt flanges so i can remove section of my exhaust when i to do repairs. http://www.jegs.com/p/JEGS-Performa...cket-Exhaust-Pipe-Connectors/1353765/10002/-1 http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stor...0&Ne=1+2+3+13+1147708&searchTerm=flex+coulper adding one of these to your exhaust system keeps your exhaust system separate from your headers. Less stress on your headers. The dreaded loose and leaking header bolts.they are alot cheaper at o'reillys

Just keep in mind when welding the exhaust together you can easily install and remove it without much hassle. I have seen tons of exhaust fully welded on that cant be removed without dropping crossmembers and such. And, to me thats alot of extra work for little gain.

ya i thought about putting a ball style joint after the muffler so i can drop it without to much trouble, like the one in rezsst's post

Sounds good. I put them on by the header outlet and a bolt flange just past the t-case. Then its super easy to remove. Pic of some blank flanges. Cut hole sizes to fit.no gasket nessary

as far as drone goes thats what the stereo is for and it has a good size lift.
I haven't bought new headers yet as mine are cracked in several places,i was planning on hookers just have to get the painted ones and strip and repaint with high heat paint.
